I've recently been playing with a new gadget called a Chumby. It's a touch-screen consumer device best described as a warm and fuzzy interface to the Internet that looks at home at your bedside or on your desk. It requires access to a wireless network to function, and once booted up you can load it with small pieces of software called widgets that can do anything from play Internet radio to display photos. Why do I love it? Because it's one of the few non-PC devices that I have, such as my Xbox, that can access the Internet. And it's FUN.
The software is still rough around the edges, but the device is surprisingly easy to use, and offers an intriguing glimpse into the future of the Internet away from the PC.
